Following an epiphany which almost made him fall over, around about mid-afternoon of 27th June 2008, Rob Mills wrote a new manifesto to encourage him to get off his backside, be more interesting and be a better person.
Several lagers later random scribblings on a beer mat turned into the beginnings of an idea shared by several great men who shook hands and gave each other manly hugs and slaps on the back. Then they decided that they, together, all for one and one for all, would sign up to the next round of the great Mongol Rally and at that moment Team Gobi Desserts was born.
They are...
Robert 'Maverick' Mills (obviously).
Captain, visionary, dream-weaver. Rob founded Gobi Desserts in the summer of 2008 after writing the 'Gobi Desserts Life Manifesto'. It was an understated occasion that, for most, slipped by unnoticed. Rob then went to be pub to celebrate, got drunk, slurred at a barmaid, and fell asleep in his 'special place'. When he awoke he discovered to his amazement he had drawn an accurate map of Eurasia on a beer-mat with pool cue chalk, and on it a route from West Sussex to Ulaanbaatar with the note, '...must join the Adventurists'.
Did you know?
Rob is actually a kung-fu expert, and could quite easily kill you at three paces with nothing but a pirouette of his little finger. If he had the need to, that is.
Rob was raised on a Somerset cider farm, and only discovered the existence of cars when first leaving the farm at the age of 15. Ever since he has been obsessed with cars and collects Polaroids of spark plugs in a special album.
Rob was brought to you today by the Letter 'A' and is filmed in front of a live studio audience.

Andrew 'Knobby' Mills
Rob's younger (and very much shorter) brother. Co-driver, Vice-Captain, mascot and official team dancer, Andy is charged with keeping Rob's shoes clean and shiny and to be used as bait for bear traps. He is a part of this team following a promise to bond with his brother like they never did when they were younger - this trip will either make them, or leave a deep, unbridgeable rift between them forever.
Did you know?
Andrew is not only Rob's identical twin brother, but also his legal guardian, and will gain the power of attorney over him, as well as captaincy of Team Gobi Desserts™ in the event of a bout of absurdity.
Andrew is too short for the more intense rides at Alton Towers. But fame may only be just a few (tiny) paces away as he recently doubled for Verne Troyer.
Andrew has the strange super-heroic gift of possessing two gall-bladders, and uses his special powers to unblock drains and disperse attack any assailing Somerset toads.
Andrew hasn't drunk alcohol ever since an incident last year when he got so drunk he changed his name by deed poll to 'Party', as in, 'it's OK everyone - the Party has arrived!'. He would prefer it if you don't mention this - it was a dark time in his life.

Kevin 'Kevolution' Milverton
A dyed-in-the wool amaxophobe, who, putting aside his convictions for the sake of his love of adventure, decided to join the two aforementioned intrepid adventurers on an journey of certain death. Without a driver's licence or the first idea of motoring, Kevin will act as the Babel-fish of the team, interpreting bribe-hungry militiamen, deciphering road-signs and maps and generally whistling and enthusing everyone in the event of stereo failure.
Did you know?
Kev's age remains a mystery to all but himself and his mother. Most guesses place him in his mid-twenties, but some say Kevin is as old as time itself. His symbion beard is said to be much older, and became attached to Kevin's chin (now a Site of Special Scientific Interest) whilst studying in Moscow.
Kev once ate so much cheese before bedtime he dreamt he was Lenin.
Kev's favourite colour is red; favourite sports team is the Red Team; favourite food is red meat; favourite car is a red car; favourite saying is 'Better Red than Dead!'; favourite musical artist/band is the Red Army Choir and favourite song is the Red Army Choir's wonderful cover of 'The Lady in Red' (by Chris de Burgh).
